The SAE International Journal of Connected and Automated Vehicles furthers state-of-the-art of engineering research by promoting high-quality theoretical and applied investigations in the arena of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) in on-road, off-road, and aerial operational environments.

All presented articles review the current state-of-practice and state-of-the-art in their respective fields. The contributions envision new approaches, methods, and specific assessment and evaluation strategies regarding hardware and software level development throughout the automotive value chain. This includes electronic IP components, system-on-chip, electronic controller unit systems to finalize the vehicle integration, and vehicle operation.
