The SAE International Journal of Sustainable Transportation, Energy, Environment, & Policy provides a forum for the exchange of novel, innovative, and transdisciplinary ideas on incorporating and enhancing sustainability from environmental, energy, engineering, public policy, social, and economic perspectives over the entire life cycle of automobiles, aircrafts, and other transportation systems that span across diverse landscapes.

All articles in the special issue focus on new developments and research in vehicles with different power systems, focusing on emission measurement methods, life-cycle emission comparison, system modeling, and technology enablers in emission control and energy improvement, among other topics. Contributors are from different sectors of the automotive community and present new measurement and diagnosis instruments, modeling and optimization approaches, and reviews and comments on current and future technologies.
